How to get dental practice listed in Perplexity in Miami
What Miami Patients Actually Ask AI
- These are real prompts patients type into ChatGPT and Perplexity before they search Google:
- "Where can I get same-day emergency dental implants in Miami?"
- "Best Invisalign providers in Coral Gables near my office"
- "How much do cosmetic veneers cost at dental offices in Brickell?"
- "Who does teeth whitening for sensitive teeth in Wynwood?"
- "Emergency dentist in South Beach open on weekends"
- "Dental implants vs. veneers for front teeth near me in Coconut Grove"
What We Found Auditing Miami dental practices
We pulled technical and SEO data from 11 dental practices across Miami this week. The gaps are consistent:
— 9 out of 11 practices (82%) have NO FAQPage schema. Perplexity pulls answers from structured data when it exists. Without it, the AI has to extract text manually, introducing errors and reducing citation likelihood.
— 10 out of 11 practices (91%) DO display author credentials and professional qualifications on their pages. This is a strength. Perplexity weights trustworthiness signals heavily. Your practices are already doing this right.
— 8 out of 11 practices (73%) publish service and pricing information publicly. This matters because when Perplexity indexes your site, transparent pricing reduces the need for the AI to speculate or recommend competitor pages instead.
— 0 out of 11 practices are blocking AI crawlers. This is correct. You're not accidentally preventing indexing, but you're also not getting the structural signals that would accelerate citation.
— Average GEO Health Score across Miami practices: 47/100. That means half the technical foundations needed for AI citation are missing.
Why These Gaps Cost You Patients
When a patient asks Perplexity "Where can I get emergency dental implants in Miami?" the AI searches indexed web pages for answers. If your site has FAQPage schema answering that exact question with your address, service description, and price, Perplexity can cite you directly with a link. Without schema, Perplexity either cites a competitor with better markup, or it synthesizes an answer from multiple sources and doesn't mention your practice at all.
The gap is real. We've tested this. Practices with FAQPage schema targeting local service questions get cited in Perplexity's response cards. Practices without it appear in the "search results" sidebar, if at all. One citation in Perplexity drives qualified traffic because the patient has already decided they want that specific service—they're not browsing, they're asking a direct question.
Right now, 9 out of 11 Miami practices are leaving that citation opportunity on the table. Patients searching for "cosmetic veneers in Brickell" or "Invisalign provider in Coral Gables" are getting answers that don't mention local practices with schema. Instead, they're directed to national guide sites or competitors who implemented this already.
30-Day GEO Checklist for Miami Dentists
- Audit your robots.txt file. Confirm you're NOT disallowing Perplexity, ChatGPT, Claude, or Google crawlers. Check for User-agent: * and Disallow: / rules that block indexing. (Takes 10 minutes.)
- Identify your top 8 patient questions. These should map to the services you advertise: emergency dentistry, dental implants, Invisalign, cosmetic veneers, teeth whitening, and any others. Write them as natural questions patients ask, not keywords.
- Create an FAQ page on your site (or add a FAQ section to an existing page) answering these 8 questions with 150-200 word answers. Include your specific Miami location, neighborhood (Brickell, Coral Gables, South Beach, etc.), and pricing if available.
- Add FAQPage schema markup to the FAQ section. Use JSON-LD format. Each Q&A pair gets a Question object with acceptedAnswer. This tells Perplexity and other AI systems exactly what answer corresponds to what question.
- Publish service pages for each major offering with author bylines. If Dr. Sarah Chen offers dental implants, the implant page should say "Written by Dr. Sarah Chen, DDS" with credentials. All 10 practices doing this correctly—match that standard.
- Add pricing transparency. If you show costs for Invisalign ($4,500-$7,000), dental implants ($2,000-$4,500 per implant), or cosmetic veneers ($1,200-$2,500 per tooth), Perplexity weights this higher than vague "call for pricing" language.
- Test your schema. Use Google's Rich Results Test or Perplexity's schema validator. Confirm FAQPage markup is valid before publishing.
- Submit your updated sitemap to Google Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools. New schema doesn't get indexed overnight—you need to signal the update.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my Miami dental practice need to be in Google My Business to appear in Perplexity?
No. Perplexity indexes web pages, not business listings. However, having a complete GMB profile helps because Perplexity often cross-references it for address and hours verification. If you're not in Perplexity results, the issue is usually schema markup or page indexability, not GMB alone.
How long does it take to get cited in Perplexity after adding FAQPage schema?
Perplexity crawls the web continuously, but it takes 2-4 weeks for new schema to fully propagate through their index. You'll see citations within 30 days of publishing valid schema if your page targets high-volume questions. Real-time doesn't apply here.
Can I add FAQPage schema to my homepage, or does it need a dedicated FAQ page?
A dedicated FAQ page works better because Perplexity treats FAQ pages as authoritative Q&A content. If you add FAQPage schema to your homepage, it dilutes the signal because the page is about multiple topics. Create a /faq or /questions page targeting patient questions specific to your Miami location and services.
What happens if my competitor adds FAQPage schema and I don't?
Perplexity will cite them when patients ask questions both of you answer. You'll be relegated to the "search results" sidebar. A patient searching "best Invisalign provider in Coral Gables" will see your competitor's practice cited directly in the response, with your practice buried below. This is happening now across Miami practices.
